God is Good.

Well. I told you all that I would post several times right off the bat and then never again, and I'm already back to fulfill the first half of that promise (here's to hoping I avoid the second!)

So after that long and whiny post about not knowing anyone here yet, I decided to at least spend the evening in the common room where I might perchance run into someone else, watching British TV and attempting to get my laptop to finally finish downloading a film off iTunes (if you haven't seen Kingsmen: The Secret Service you must).

So just as I've made tea and sat down in the empty common room to wrestle with the Wifi a guy comes in and asks "oh are you coming?" and I was like "uuuhhhh..." and he was like "oh well there's a group downstairs headed out and they said everyone was invited." So a pop downstairs and apparently a large group of new students, of whom I had met only two of the guys, was about the head to the pub to dinner and drinks. I gathered my stuff and headed out with them (luckily still in jeans, but secretly also in my fuzzy socks). There were a lot of people and a very loud room, but it was a pleasantly mixed group of international and Brits - I talked to a guy from South Africa, a woman from Surrey, a man from Florida and a girl from all over (US military family). It was really nice! Also good food of course (lol, sadly the group leader wasn't paying. But still.)

So yes, for anyone who was worried about me after all of that earlier, please know that your prayers were rather promptly answered, and that I had a great night.

There were so many names that I hardly remember any of them, and no one I met lives in my building, but they all live near by. All the rest seem to be theology, not philosophy, which is fully what I expected, but all were good conversation, and wanted to know what it was like to move to Oxford from Texas :)
